Larimar, which is mostly used as a gemstone, comes from the Dominican Republic.
It's only found in the Las Filipinas mine, in a remote mountainous region in the southwest of the country.
Larimar is highly sought after for its healing properties. It has been associated with the lost Kingdom of Atlantis.
The colour of larimar is not believed to be enhanced at any point while being processed.
The stone's colour is stable, so does not fade when exposed to UV light.
