Small Amethyst Geodes from Uruguay
A collection of grade-A amethyst geodes in smaller sizes.
These geodes are rough and unpolished. The only treatment they've had is cleaning and some smoothing around the edges.
The colour of the crystals is consistent throughout the collection.
Size varies from piece to piece, so we've split them into small, medium and large.
Although categorised as grade A amethyst geodes, we've recategorised them into grade A and B.
The grade A geodes are as perfect as perfect can be in nature. Grade B have minor anomalies such as a damaged crystal.
Each amethyst geode in the dropdown menu is an individual piece, so please do not increase individual quantities.
What is a Geode?
A
geode is a rock with a hollow cavity that’s typically lined with crystals.
Geodes form over millions of years in sedimentary and volcanic rocks. They form when water rich in dissolved minerals seeps into cavities or hollow spaces in the rock.
As the water dries up, just minerals are left behind. Over time,
the minerals crystallise and grow while more minerals accumulate.
Geodes can also form when gas bubbles in lava expand and cannot escape. As the lava solidifies, cavities form in the rock.
Minerals left behind in the void from hydrothermal solutions or groundwater then slowly crystallise.
