Colourful Rainbow Fluorite
The mineral fluorite is known as the world's most colourful mineral. Not only does it occur in many different colour but zones of colour within the same crystal are common. This material is often called rainbow fluorite.
As beautiful as fluorite is, the colour is sensitive to light so will fade if exposed to sunlight for any length of time. With it being translucent crystals are best appreciated when held up towards the light. For this reason it's often placed close to a sunny window. Sadly that should be avoided where possible to prevent the colours from fading.
Fluorite is also incredibly fragile and will chip or fracture very easily. For this reason it's not unusual for crystals to have internal fractures or minor chips. The rainbow fluorite crystal on the left in our photos does have a couple of minor anomalies on the surface. It is therefore being offered for sale at a slightly reduced price. These can be felt more than they can be seen, unless you have amazing eyesight.
When held up towards the light the true magnificence of these rainbow fluorite points becomes apparent.
