Rough Longido Ruby
Fine-grade Longido ruby is relatively rare. Mined in Northern Tanzania close to the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, it's usually found in a matrix of green zoisite. Longido ruby is the red corundum in 'ruby zoisite.'
When this grade is found, the green zoisite is gently hammered away.
A new vein of gem-grade Longido rubies was discovered in 2017. However, only a limited amount is believed to be available.
Longido rubies are known for their deep, crimson colour.
These nine rough Longido rubies are currently the only stones we have available.
