Large Black Quartz Crystals
A magnificent cluster of morion quartz crystals in various sizes. Some are too small to be seen in our photos.
This piece comes from the Ouachita (wosh-i-taw) and Ozark mountains which stretch from west central Arkansas to south eastern Texas in the United States.
Morion is a very dark brown to almost black variety of smoky quartz.
The colour of smoky quartz is caused when natural radiation interacts with impurities of aluminium.
Embedded in rock matrix with a partial covering of sparkling calcite crystals, each well-formed terminated point is unique and magical in its own way. Even the underside of this piece has so much to offer.
The Ouachita Mountains located within the Ouachita National Forest is one of the few areas in the world where high quality quartz can be found in abundance.
