Rare Tiffany Stone from Western Utah
Tiffany Stone is now incredibly difficult to find because the area where it's found in Western Utah has been closed for many years.
The colour of this rock is believed to come primarily from quartz and fluorite.
Some material being sold as Tiffany Stone, particularly from China but also from Turkey, is opalised fluorite. Although they look very similar, and it can be difficult to distinguish one from the other, they're not the same.
This finely polished Tiffany Stone cabochon has wonderfully unique markings. Its smooth texture makes it extremely tactile.
