It has the smoothest texture and reflects light beautifully. The tiny specs of the mineral pyrite are more concentrated on one side than the other.
It was cut from material mined in Afghanistan.
It stands comfortably on its side, so can be displayed and turned without falling.

The finest lapis lazuli comes from Sar-i-Sang in the Badakhshan Province of northeastern Afghanistan.
