The reddish brown colour is produced by heating the more familiar brown and yellow variety of tigers eye. When heated many rocks and minerals change colour.
Heat has been used to enhance or change the colour of stones for thousands of years. It was first documented by ancient Greek philosopher Theophrastus [c.371-c.287 BC] who wrote in depth about the effects of heat on some stones.
This red tigers eye pendant is slightly chunkier but still comfortably lightweight.
