Tiger Iron Gemstone Pendant
Beautifully polished tiger iron pendant crafted by hand in timeless sterling silver.
The vertical lines in this stone are compacted layers of the mineral tigers eye, red jasper and hematite. The hematite is particularly prominent whilst the tigers eye is fascinatingly chatoyant.
Tiger iron is often mistaken for the mineral tigers eye. Although both can have a similar appearance, they're not the same stone.
This material is a banded iron formation that occurs in rocks dating back 1.8 to 2.5 billion years. Only stone from Western Australia is known as tiger iron.
