Spectacular Orange Calcite Sphere
A truly exceptional orange calcite sphere that will make a stunning addition to your collection of rocks and minerals.
Calcite is the most common form of calcium carbonate. It's extremely common and can be found in many places around the world. Calcite occurs in sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous rocks.
Calcite is a very soft mineral, so it must be handled carefully. It should not be exposed to chemicals or any acidic substances.
Orange calcite is not known to be sensitive to light, so its colour should not fade. However, as with all natural minerals, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight should be avoided.
This orange calcite sphere was photographed in natural daylight using a very slow shutter speed. However, it was getting quite dark when I took the photo.
The sphere comes with the polished hematite ring that it's photographed on.
