Blue Topaz Crystals from Nigeria
Despite its popularity, natural blue topaz is quite rare. Most blue topaz is produced by heating white or colourless topaz.
Depending on the type of treatment used three shades of blue can be produced. The most popular is Sky Blue. London Blue and Swiss Blue have a deeper or richer colour and tend to be more expensive.
The colour of these natural, unheated blue topaz crystals is wonderfully subtle. The inclusions look far more prominent in our photos than when the stones are in your hand.
Topaz is the birthstone for November. Blue topaz is one of the birthstones for December, with the other being turquoise.
