Sunstone Crystals Grade C
Sunstone is also known as aventurine feldspar. The name heliolite from the ancient Greek 'hḗlios' meaning 'sun' and 'líthos' meaning 'stone' is another name but is rarely used.
This feldspar mineral has a spangled appearance although the characteristic tends to be more prominent in finer grade material.
The reddish orange colour of sunstone is caused by minute inclusions of the minerals goethite or hematite. Occasionally it can also be caused by copper.
The inclusions are responsible for the optical phenomenon known as aventurescence. Once again this tends to be more visible in finer grade stones.
In crystal healing sunstone is used to help those who suffer with seasonal affective disorder (SAD). Carrying the energy of the sun it's said to help alleviate depression, boost low mood and encourage optimism.
These sunstone crystals are grade C because there's less sunstone in the matrix. We also have grade A sunstone in our collection.
These are a small to medium size tumbled stone. Size does vary from piece to piece.
