Sunstone Crystals (India) Grade A
Sunstone, a variety of the mineral feldspar, is known for its reddish-orange metallic glitter. This optical phenomenon is caused as light reflects off minute inclusions of hematite or goethite (ger~tite), both of which are iron oxide minerals.
Due to the positioning of the mineral inclusions, the glitter effect, known as aventurescence, can only be seen from certain angles.
In the 1800s, sunstone was expensive due to its rarity, but today, it's more affordable because of new finds in several countries around the world.
Some of the finest gem-grade sunstone come from Oregon in the United States. This material, known for its large crystals, tends to be included with copper as opposed to hematite.
These sunstone tumbled stones are grade A. We also have grade C stones as part of our collection.
Although classed as a medium, the size of these sunstone tumbled stones can vary from piece to piece.
