Black and White Zebra Stone from Utah
The name zebra stone/jasper/marble tends to be used for any distinctive black and white stone. A brown and white material from Australia with very similar markings is also known as zebra stone.
Many crystals sold commercially have trade names. Where the precise chemical composition is unknown it often ends up being called jasper. This causes a great deal of confusion because in many cases the stone is not jasper at all.
