Light Green Aventurine Tumbled Stones
Green aventurine also known as aventurine quartz occurs in several colours. Stones are characterised by distinctive platy inclusions which gives them a shimmering or glistening effect. Correctly known as aventurescence, this optical phenomenon is caused as light reflects off inclusions.
Platy is simply a term used to describe a mineral inclusion with a flat plate-like shape.
Although fuchsite (fook~site) tends to be the most common, inclusions in green aventurine can also be lepidolite, hematite, goethite (ger~tite) muscovite or ilmenite.
When present in abundance inclusions can change the colour of the quartz. The green in aventurine is caused by the presence of fuchsite, a chromium rich mica.
Green aventurine can either be a light or darker shade of green.
