Green Aventurine aka Aventurine Quartz
Green aventurine, also known as aventurine quartz, can look very similar to green quartz, but it's not the same stone.
Aventurine is a variety of quartz characterised by distinctive mineral inclusions which give the stone a shimmering or glistening effect.
Correctly known as aventurescence, this optical phenomenon is caused by light reflecting off 'platy' inclusions.
'Platy' describes mineral inclusions with a flat plate-like shape.
Although fuchsite (fook~site) tends to be the most common inclusion, inclusions in green aventurine can also be lepidolite, hematite, goethite (ger~tite), muscovite, or ilmenite.
When present in abundance they can influence the colour of the quartz. The green hue in aventurine is caused by fuchsite, a chromium rich mica.
Our green aventurine crystals are medium tumbled stones, but size can vary from piece to piece.
The only stones we currently have available have a minor imperfection and have been priced accordingly.
We also have light-green aventurine tumbled stones.
