Charoite Crystals Grade A from Russia
Rich purple coloured charoite from the world's only deposit in Russia's Far East.
Prior to being officially identified in 1977, charoite was unknown outside of Russia. This mineral is believed to have been discovered as early as 1949.
Charoite was named after the Chara River even though it's some distance from the where the stone is found.
It's not known for certain how much material is left available to mine. For this reason, the Republic of Sakha have restricted the amount of charoite that can be mined each year to one hundred tons.
Charoite is a striking mineral, highly sought after by collectors and widely used for its metaphysical healing properties.
A relatively hard stone, it grades 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale of hardness.
Due to the current situation in Russia, significant tariffs now apply to most products imported to the UK. As a result, the price of charoite has risen significantly, and nice grade stones are becoming far more difficult to find.
These beautiful grade A charoite tumbled stones are a size medium. Size can vary slightly from piece to piece.
