Noreena Jasper Polished Gemstone
An exceptionally colourful and beautifully polished Noreena Jasper gemstone.
Noreena Jasper, which is a relatively new find, comes from the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Its fiery colour comes from impurities of iron oxides.
The Pilbara region is well known for its vast mineral deposits and its red-coloured earth.
Noreena jasper is a type of mudstone, but little geological information exists regarding its chemical composition.
This striking gemstone has been cut as a cabochon.
The front has a vitreous lustre, the back, which is unpolished, has a dull lustre.
