Medium-Grade Kyanite Rough Crystals
Rough kyanite translucent crystals in different sizes.
Kyanite is unusual because it has a different hardness within the same crystal. When tested lengthways, it grades between 4.5 to 6 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness, yet across the width, it's 6 to 7.
Despite kyanite crystals being relatively hard, they're also brittle, which makes cutting particularly difficult.
Kyanite is widely used in industry because of its ability to resist heat.
The price stated is for 50 grams of rough kyanite. With each crystal being a different weight, it's difficult to say exactly how many that includes. Both groups of kyanite in our last photo weigh 50 grams.
