Lapis Lazuli Crystals Grade A
Lapis lazuli stones tumbled from material mined at Sar-e Sang in Badakhshan Province north east Afghanistan.
The mines where lapis lazuli can be found are located high on steep treaturious slopes in the Hindu-Kush Mountains. Mining has been taking place here for more than 6,500 years. These mines continue to produce some of the world's finest lapis lazuli.
Although known for its inclusions of pyrite this golden coloured mineral is actually an inclusion of the mineral lazurite. Lazurite is one of several minerals that make up the metamorphic rock known as lapis lazuli.
These beautifully polished lapis lazuli crystals are a smaller sized stone. Size can vary from piece to piece.
