Malachite Crystals (South Africa)
Fine-grade malachite crystals from our collection of rocks and minerals.
Malachite is a relatively soft mineral that must be handled carefully. Being soft makes tumbling difficult, so it's not unusual for stones to have minor imperfections.
Most of the world's tumbled malachite is produced in industrial-sized rock tumblers. Some stones (mainly those processed in India and China) are cut and polished by hand. Polishing malachite is not easy because, being an ore of copper, its dust is toxic.
Although malachite can be highly polished, minor abrasions or imperfections will often be present. If these don't occur while stones are being tumbled, they will almost certainly happen during transportation which covers vast distances.
With malachite being a copper mineral, it must never be used as an elixir. An elixir is water infused with natural minerals.
The presence of copper is the reason malachite is such a strong conductor of energy.
The colour of malachite is stable, so it won't fade with exposure to UV light. It should not be allowed to get wet.
Our malachite crystals are a larger-size tumbled stone, but size can vary from piece to piece.
