Medium-Grade Kyanite Rough Crystals
Rough kyanite bladed crystals in a variety of sizes.
Kyanite is unusual because it has a different hardness within the same crystal. When tested lengthways, it grades between 4.5 to 6 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness, yet across the width it's 6 to 7.
Despite kyanite crystals being relatively hard, they're also brittle. This makes cutting particularly difficult.
Kyanite is widely used in industry primarily because of its ability to resist heat.
The price stated is for 50 grams of rough kyanite. With each crystal being a different weight it's difficult to say exactly how many that includes. Both groups of kyanite in our last photo weigh 50 grams.
