Lightly Polished Malachite
A lovely piece of malachite, carefully chosen for our collection of rocks and minerals.
The colour of malachite does not fade when exposed to sunlight. That said, minerals should not be exposed to bright sunlight for long periods.
Being a relatively soft mineral, malachite was once ground down to produce a pigment.
Malachite beads found along the Euphrates River date back to 7000 BC.
Malachite should always be handled carefully and being an ore of copper should not be allowed to get wet.
