Black tigers eye is produced by heating yellow and brown tigers eye.
Chatoyance is a visual effect that makes patterns or colours in a rock or mineral appear to move. This effect is created by a narrow band of reflected light beneath the stone's surface that shifts as the direction of light changes.
When this stone is gently moved back and forth, chatoyance can be clearly seen.
If you're looking for a small chatoyant stone, you won't find one better than this.
This optical phenomenon is best seen in ambient light.
