Black tigers eye is produced by heating the yellow and brown variety of the mineral tigers eye.
This beautifully polished stone is incredibly chatoyant. Chatoyance is an optical phenomenon that's caused as light reflects off the fibres within the stone.
As this piece is gently moved back and forth, even with minimal lighting, chatoyance can be seen.
