Blue Lace Agate Polished Stone
Highly polished blue lace agate cabochon. Cut from material mined at Ysterputs in Southern Namibia.
Being translucent the natural patterns in this stone become more defined when it's held up towards the light.
This fully polished fine grade cabochon has a smooth glass-like finish. It's visually attractive and incredibly tactile.
The Ysterputs mine in Southern Namibia is the original blue lace agate deposit. Although it can also be found in Malawi and Zambia, the finest material comes from Namibia.
The mine has been closed for many years so blue lace agate from this location is becoming extremely rare.
We have been told on good authority that talks have begun with regards to reopening the mine but they have literally just begun.
There are reports of blue lace agate having recently been found in Romania.
