Pink Opal Finely Polished Stone
A pretty pink opal stone that's been beautifully polished. With the stone having such a silky texture it's quite slippery so care must be taken not to drop it.
Pink opal is also known as Common Opal because it's relatively common and can be found in many countries around the world.
Although best known for being pink, Common Opals occur in several different colours.
Common Opal has an almost identical chemical composition to precious opal. The main difference is one exhibits iridescence or 'play of colour' and the other doesn't.
The front face of this pink opal stone is very slightly rounded whereas the back is flat.
