Rare Charoite Polished Stones
Charoite is a relatively rare mineral from Russia's Far East.
The amount that can be mined yearly is limited to one hundred tons.
Charoite has always been expensive and has never been easy to find. The current situation in Russia has pushed prices up further, and finding any nice grade material is now more difficult than ever.
The charoite cabochon on the left in our photos is partly polished to a vitreous lustre. The flat base of the stone has been lightly polished for smoothness, so has a dull lustre.
The charoite on the right has a spectacular polish. Some areas of the stone are slightly chatoyant. Its magnificent colour and impressive size make it a unique and valuable addition to any collection of rocks and minerals.
