Jasper Stones Beautifully Polished
Two beautifully polished Noreena Jasper stones with exceptional colour.
Cut for Stone Mania from the same piece of rock, Noreena Jasper comes from the Pilbara region in the north of Western Australia. This area is known for its red earth, vast mineral reserves, and abundance of iron ore.
The red colour in these Jasper stones comes from iron, most likely hematite. The yellowish-brown is from impurities of goethite (ger~tite).
The fronts of both stones exhibit a vitreous lustre. The backs, which have been polished for smoothness, have a dull lustre, so absorb light instead of reflecting it.
The first three photos were taken in natural daylight.
The oblong-shaped Noreena Jasper gemstone, which is fully polished, can be found under product code ZZGF.
