Striking Rhodonite Polished Stone
This large, finely-cut rhodonite cabochon exhibits a rich pink colour and distinctive black markings caused by manganese oxides.
Rhodonite's natural pink colour is often accompanied by black markings, which can vary in shape and size. These black areas are the result of the oxidation of manganese within the rock, which forms manganese oxide minerals, typically after the pink crystals have formed.
This striking rhodonite cabochon has been finely polished on just one side. The front reflects light beautifully, while the back has a dull lustre.
Rhodonite generally has a massive crystal habit, meaning the mineral's crystals grow as one tightly intergrown, shapeless mass. Although individual crystals of rhodonite can be found, they're extremely rare.
