Kambaba jasper is a relatively rare type of rock from Madagascar.
Also known as Crocodile Jasper and Kabamba Stone, it comes from an area called Kabamba in the Bongolava region of the country.
Kabamba is sometimes written as kambaba, which is how the name came about. Kambaba Jasper is often mistaken for Kabamby Ocean Jasper which also comes from Madagascar.
Many argue that kambaba is not a true jasper, hence a more appropriate name would be Kambaba Stone.
