Light Green Aventurine Crystals
Green aventurine, also known as aventurine quartz, is characterised by distinctive 'platy' inclusions which give the stone a shimmering or glistening effect.
This optical phenomenon, known as aventurescence, is caused by the reflection of light.
'Platy' is a term used to describe mineral inclusions with a flat plate-like shape.
Although fuchsite (fook~site) is the most common, inclusions in green aventurine can also be lepidolite, hematite, goethite (ger~tite), muscovite, or ilmenite.
When present in abundance, they can influence the colour of the stone. Green is caused by the mineral fuchsite, a chromium-rich mica.
Green aventurine can be a lighter or darker shade of green.
