Hematite Tumbled Stones - Iron Oxide Mineral
The steely-grey colour and metallic lustre of hematite give this mineral a unique appearance.
Despite being relatively hard, it's also brittle, so can chip or shatter easily.
Hematite is an iron oxide mineral and the primary ore of iron.
The name, which can also be spelt haematite (hee~matite), comes from the Greek word for blood. This came about because hematite has a blood-red to reddish-brown streak. Streak is the colour of a mineral in powdered form.
These hematite tumbled stones are a slightly larger, medium-sized stone. As with most tumbled stones produced in a rock tumbler, size does vary from piece to piece.
