Snow Quartz Crystals - Beautifully Polished
Premium-grade snow quartz crystals carefully chosen for our collection.
Snow quartz, also known as milk or milky quartz, is one of the most common quartz varieties. It can be found in most rock types, and its chemical composition is similar to that of other types of quartz.
The cloudy or milky appearance of snow quartz is caused by microscopic fluid inclusions or gas bubbles trapped within the crystal as it forms. These impurities scatter light, giving the quartz its distinctive white or greyish-white, opaque appearance.
The presence of these inclusions can vary, resulting in different degrees of cloudiness or opacity.
In its purest form, quartz is colourless and transparent.
Snow quartz can often be found as phantoms within other quartz minerals, particularly colourless and translucent varieties. It's sometimes described as imperfect because some believe that its cloudy appearance spoils what would otherwise be an almost perfect crystal.
Snow quartz, which is a trade name, is used primarily for decorative purposes. It's sometimes mistaken for white moonstone, but although the colour can be similar, it doesn't exhibit iridescence.
These finely polished snow quartz crystals are a larger-sized tumbled stone. Size can vary from piece to piece.
We also have a smaller snow quartz tumbled stone.
