Colourful Rainbow Fluorite Crystals
As beautiful as this mineral is, fluorite is very delicate so must be handled carefully.
Often known as the most colourful mineral in the world it can exhibit a wide variety of colours. Colour is determined by several factors but comes primarily from impurities within the crystal structure.
Being translucent colours are best appreciated when fluorite is held up towards the light. With that said the colours will fade if exposed to natural daylight for long periods of time.
Although shades of red, purple, green, blue and yellow are most common, it can occur in almost any colour. In its purest form fluorite is colourless.
Due to it being such a delicate mineral it's not unusual for crystals to have minor imperfections.
The fluorite point on the right in our photos is being offered at a slightly reduced price because it has two minor indentations on one side.
When natural minerals are polished anomalies such as these could be polished out but rarely are. This is because minerals tend to be valued according to size and weight so the more it's polished the smaller and lighter it becomes.
