This variety of jasper known as ajooba jasper boasts wonderful autumnal colours. Ajooba jasper is a trade name that originated in Jaipur in India where most of the world's cabochons are cut and polished.
This stone has been mounted in a fine sterling silver setting. It has been reduced because of some marks on the surface of the stone.
Although quite visible in our first two photos, this was the first time we became aware of them. They can only be seen if you look very carefully in good light. Our zoom lense and lighting has made them far more prominent.
