Striped Onyx Polished Stone

A subtly translucent striped onyx stone from our collection of loose gemstones.

This beautifully polished onyx stone has been cut as a cabochon so the top is gently rounded whilst the base is flat.  It has a vitreous lustre which is sometimes referred to as a "glass-like finish".  Lustre is a term used to describe the way the surface of a rock or mineral interact with light.

Stones with a vitreous lustre reflect light in a similar way to glass.

This striped onyx stone has been beautifully polished so it's incredibly tactile.  It could be used as a cabochon in a piece of jewellery or may also be used for its metaphysical healing properties.
