Blue Sapphire Necklace on White Gold
A breathtaking deep blue sapphire necklace finished with an 18-carat white gold clasp.
The sapphires are from Madagascar.
Each stone has been faceted, so the necklace sparkles incessantly as it reflects light.
These translucent sapphires, which are subtly graduated, range in size from 2.6 mm to 5.3 mm.
This sapphire necklace fastens with a secure lobster clasp. It measures 43 centimetres but has additional rings for fastening, so can be worn as long as 45 centimetres.
It weighs 13.8 grams.
This style of necklace is traditionally strung on an entwined cotton thread, but the problem is that over time, the drilled holes rub against the cotton and can cause it to break.
When we had these necklaces made, we used a fine nylon jewellery thread which is far more resilient.
