Black Tigers Eye Polished Slice
This black tigers eye stone has been beautifully on just one side.
A subtle ghost-like sheen can be seen running horizontally just above the centre of the stone. This band of reflected light is visible regardless of the angle at which it's held.
This optical phenomenon, known as chatoyance, occurs when light reflects off fibres beneath the surface of the mineral.
Chatoyance is best known tigers eye and chrysoberyl.
A wonderfully unique, chatoyant piece of tigers eye.
