Chatoyance is an optical phenomenon that occurs as fibres beneath the surface of the stone reflect light. Visibility varies widely and can depend on the grade of a stone and how it has been cut.
I've seen a considerable amount of black tigers eye over many years and this polished stone ranks as one of the finest pieces I've ever seen. It does have a minor imperfection on the top left side that can be seen in our first photo.
