Amethyst Crystal

Amethyst Included with Citrine

Beautifully polished translucent amethyst with rich purple colour.  Although it can't be fully appreciated from our photo this crystal has a vitreous lustre which means it reflects light in a similar manner to glass.

The lower section exhibits colour zoning which is relatively common in amethyst.  Where present the shade of colour is not uniform throughout the crystal.  

When held up towards the light subtle yellow colouration can be seen.  This is most likely to be citrine.  When amethyst and citrine occur together within the same crystal the mineral is known as ametrine.

Amethyst is February's birthstone.
