Leopardskin Jasper from Mexico
Beautiful leopardskin jasper crystals from Chihuahua, northwest Mexico.
Leopardskin jasper is described as an orbicular jasper with distinctive colour and markings. Colours can vary from light shades of brown to the deepest shades of red.
The name 'jasper' is often used as a trade name to describe any colourful decorative stone that can be highly polished. In many cases, stones don't contain any jasper at all.
Leopardskin jasper is an orbicular rhyolite. 'Orbicular' refers to its orb-like or spherical markings.
Rhyolite is a volcanic igneous rock, whereas jasper is composed of quartz and/or chalcedony with other minerals and substances.
These incredibly tactile leopardskin jasper crystals are a larger tumbled stone but size can vary from piece to piece.
We also have a smaller leopardskin jasper tumbled stone.
